Mitra Ceremonies

The Nottingham Buddhist Centre will be hosting a very special event in our building on Saturday 29 May. This occasion is the Mitra ceremonies of nine good friends of our Sangha: Clare, Catherine, Jess, Geeta, Gareth, Kirsten, Kate, Jane and Anthony.

Please join us online and make the new Mitras feel welcome and supported on this once in a lifetime ritual!
The Mitra ceremony will take place in the context of a Sangha retreat weekend 27-29 May. Book for the Sangha retreat via the website. The Mitra ceremony will be open to all the Sangha, no need to book.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday 29 May, at 3pm and you are invited to join us on zoom. We're following the government guidelines which allows just the nine Mitras-to-be, our chair Kusaladevi and the two Mitra Convenors, Khemasiri and Aryavacin, to be physically present during this auspicious event.

As always, we'd like to encourage you to connect with the new Mitras. One way of doing so is using the Buddhist Centre's shop and bookshop to buy gifts online (like incense, mala beads, Buddha and Bodhisattva rupas, books or meditation stools), which would be wrapped and labelled for the Mitras to receive on the day. You can see some of what we have available on our Facebook page and instagram account.

We're making the shops available especially for this event so If you’d like to use this service please contact info@nottinghambuddhistcentre.org, and we'll process your orders and arrange payment, beautifully wrap them and label each gift with your name and theirs. Please order by Thursday 27 May.

You can also send your own gifts and cards for the new Mitras to the Buddhist Centre and we'll make sure they get them. Please be sure whatever you send arrives at our building by Thursday 27 May too.
