Jack Hu, originally from China, discovered the Nottingham Buddhist Centre while studying in Nottingham. He became an active member of the Sangha and Sub35 group, forming close bonds within the community. Jack’s parents said that the Nottingham Buddhist Centre became one of the most important places in Jack’s life; he found peace, love, and friendship here. In accordance with Jack’s last wishes, the Centre helped by organising a Buddhist funeral for him.
Shortly before his death on the 13th April 2023, Jack took the step of becoming a Mitra, deepening his commitment to the Buddhist path and the practice of the five precepts. In gratitude for the support Jack found here in his final years, his parents generously donated £1,000 to the Centre. This thoughtful contribution has enabled us to create a special bursary fund dedicated to supporting young people in attending retreats. Jack’s introduction to Triratna began at a Sub35 retreat at Adhisthana, after which he regularly participated in the Sub35 events at Nottingham.
Additionally, this legacy donation will go towards redecorating our shrine room, an essential space for our community, where many seek refuge, inspiration, and a sense of connection. Through this generous legacy, we are able to continue to support and inspire others on their path.
