a garden in the wilderness
A Vision of Triratna

Tuesday 30th June (7.30pm - 9.30pm)

Open to all levels of experience
This event is designed to introduce you to the Triratna Buddhist Community and how we practice. After completing a course we ask you to attend an induction session before coming to our other events.

If you’ve ever wondered what the Triratna Buddhist Community is, how it began, or how we practice together here at the Nottingham Buddhist Centre, this event offers a friendly and comprehensive introduction. Whether you’ve recently completed a course or are a regular attendee, this session will help you understand the context in which we practise and how our community is shaped.

During the event, we’ll explore the history of Triratna—how it emerged, the values that guide it, and why it continues to inspire practice across the world. In Triratna, the Three Jewels sit at the heart of everything we do, alongside a strong emphasis on spiritual friendship as a lived practice. You’ll have the chance to explore what these principles mean in daily life and how they find expression within our Centre.

We’ll also introduce the basics of ritual—what it means to salute the shrine, make an offering, and the purpose of these simple gestures. If you’re curious about how to take your practice further, we’ll explore the many ways to do so through retreats, study, volunteering, as well as the different levels of commitment within our community, such as becoming a Mitra or an Order Member.

This event is an essential doorway into understanding who we are, what we do, and how you can find your place within the Sangha.

HOW TO BOOK

We run everything at the Nottingham Buddhist Centre on a donation basis - we want our events to be available to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. We ask for a donation at the time of booking if possible, as we’re completely reliant on your generous donations to keep our doors open to all.

We’d suggest a donation of £20/£16/£12 - or whatever amount you can and would enjoy giving.

If you are unable to give even a very small amount, you are still very welcome. Please email info@nottinghambuddhistcentre.org and we'll book you on.

(Please note: any donation made is a donation to the centre and not payment for an event. If for some reason you can’t make the event, you’re warmly welcome to join any other suitable event)
