Wendy Tells us about the Adhisthana Sangha Retreat

Wendy (far left), along with the rest of the crew from the Nottingham Sangha!

The Summer Sanghas retreat at Adhisthana finished recently and our own Wendy was there along with a few others from Nottingham, here she shares her thoughts on the experience:

‘The retreat was based around the ‘relentless’ Santideva and his Bodhicaryāvatāra. He gave us no peace and no rest from his exhortation to crack on and stop wasting our valuable human lives. Quite often this was phrased in some pretty vivid language which left us shaken, stirred, ripped apart, fired up, inadequate, uncomfortable, inspired and generally emotional.

Luckily the grounds at Adhisthana were looking so beautiful in all their summer glory and offered us plenty of silent respite ready for the next round of general ‘poking’.

The retreat was an excellent opportunity to not only deepen relationships within our own Sangha but also to make new connections with other Sanghas. The two optional lunch time dance sessions were such a brilliant way to loosen up and get to know others whilst wearing a huge grin .

The teachings, though tough , were transformative and once we’ve all had a lie down in a darkened room for a couple of days we will no doubt awaken full of energy and enthusiasm to crack on just as Santideva implores.’
