WEEK 3

Try to do some of the points in the list (downloadable PDF here) of how we can respond ‘conventionally’ to the problems outlined this week.

  1. Keep reflecting on your consumption habits:

    • Promote living simply and consuming less resources.

    • Look for opportunities to promote more contentment, so you’re not always acting on the basis of craving.

    • You can use the questions from last week’s home practice as a guide too.

  2. Try to be more vegetarian and / or vegan this week.

    • If you are even a little more vegetarian, then that does help. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing straight away.

  3. If you can spend time connecting with nature this week, even if it’s just going to the park at lunchtime.

    • Note how it makes you feel, and sit with any boredom that may initially arise.

    • See if you can change how you see the world around you, seeing it as basically alive rather than fundamentally dead.

    • See what effect this has on you.

  4. Use your journal each evening to note how you got on in all this.

    • You might make one resolution each evening to practice the following day, and record it in the journal.

    • You might particularly want to do your expressions of gratitude in relation to what you appreciate about or in the natural world.

  5. Download and read the PDF for Week Four: Our Relationships with Technology and Money
