WEEK 4
home practice
Notice your online behaviors this week:
Are you as ethical when communicating online compared to when you’re in person with people?
Are you as ethically vigilant in your thoughts and responses to people online as when you are with people face to face?
What effects do you notice from long periods of being online?
Are you compulsive with your online behaviors?
Do you value online interactions over in-person interactions?
Can you create more space and more bardos in the weeks ahead?
Do you need to do a digital detox and spend less time on your digital devices?
Are you prepared to turn off your devices and be offline and unavailable?
Do you pay sufficient attention to your sleep hygiene? Do you need to take a precept to go offline in time for good sleep?
Can you sit and do nothing and be ok with boredom and being alone? Perhaps you can actively cultivate boredom this week…!
Pay attention to how you relate to money this week, and the stories you tell yourself about money.
Is there anything you can do about inequality in the society around us?
Can you move from seeing money as a symbol to more of a means to an end?
Do you fall into seeing money in any of the unhelpful ways described by David Loy? (check the list here)
How much money do you really need?
Continue to keep a journal this week of how you get on. In particular:
Take note of three things that have been given to you today, and how you’ve benefited from these things.
Note and take precept each day with regards to technology and money, and practice them in the day ahead.
