WEEK 5

 HOME PRACTICE

Do much more Metta Bhavana this week

  • Apply the practice to a situation of conflict that you are or have been involved in, and include all parties concerned, not just those you agree with or sympathize with the most

  • Bring to mind someone who has behaved unskillfully

  • Bring to mind all those involved in war and conflict

  1. Reflect upon people who have ‘wronged’ you, and ask is it helpful to hold on to this

    • How might you behave differently to them?

    • Does reflecting upon death change how we relate to them?

  2. Can we think of concrete ways in which we can live out Sangharakshita’s six guidelines?

    • Can we use them both inter-personally and more generally as a citizen of the world?

  3. What might being a citizen and having a civic duty mean for us?

    • How might we do both of these?

  4. In your journal, take note of anything that strikes us, and any intentions we want to set for the day ahead

    • You might like to note a few things you’re grateful for in our modern society each day.

  5. Download and read the PDF for Week Six: The Bodhisattva Ideal: A Life Well Lived
