Tending the heart’s garden
“The organic gardener does not think of throwing away the garbage. They know that they need the garbage….and are capable of transforming the garbage into nourishing compost that can make love reappear…You can transform the garbage of anger into the flower of compassion….As a practitioner we are a kind of gardener.” 'Anger' Thich Nhat Hanh
“In the heart’s garden, our aim is to sow the seeds of happiness so as to produce the finest flowers and fruit, and chief among these is kindness.” 'Mindful Emotion' Dr Paramabandhu Groves, Dr Jed Shamel
As the days of spring lengthen there is a sense of renewed energy and growth, these quotes give images of the garden reminding us that just as a garden needs to be nurtured and attended to for the organic transformation that allows the plants to flourish so to do our hearts benefit from attending to our spiritual practice. And with patience and kindness we can tend our own heart’s garden resourcing us to be with life’s challenges and to be able to respond to those we love and care about from that place of care and kindness.
Join Deb, Kshantika and Megan for the metta (loving kindness) themed day where we will explore tending our hearts through postures (asanas), breath work, meditation, and rest.
The day will consist of yoga based movement, breathing, meditation, guided relaxation, sound bath, with a break for lunch. Bring light vegetarian food to share!
Doors open at 9:45am to give you time to set up your space for practice etc. for a 10am start, finishing the day at 4pm.
We do have some mats available, however you might prefer to bring your own. Wear warm, comfortable clothing that allows for maximum movement. You may want to bring your own blanket and thick socks (for extra cosiness). There is also a suggestion to have a light breakfast on the morning of the day retreat.
Please email Kshantika on the email below, letting her know of any injuries, restrictions of movement, or health issues you’d like us to be aware of before attending the day so we can accommodate you more fully.
