Yoga and Meditation
Day Retreat

Sunday 28th june, 10am - 4pm

Open to all levels of experience

Just after the summer solstice, when the year turns gently toward balance, we come together for a day of yoga‑based retreat—a pause to listen more deeply, to feel more fully, to return to the elemental ground of our practice.

Throughout the day we’ll explore the five great elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air/Wind, and Space—as they express themselves through the body, the breath, and the subtle currents of prana. Through asana, mindful movement, pranayama, meditation, sound, and restorative rest, we’ll invite each element to reveal its qualities in our direct experience: the steadiness of Earth, the fluidity of Water, the vitality of Fire, the spacious clarity of Air, the boundlessness of Space.

As we attune to these elemental teachings, the practice becomes a remembering—an embodied sense of ourselves as part of the living world, not separate from it. The elements outside mirror the elements within; the rhythms of nature echo the rhythms of our own energy.

By meeting the elements in this intimate, yogic way, we open the possibility of greater harmony, ease, and balance in our whole being. A gentle recalibration of body, breath, and awareness at this turning point of the year.

The day will consist of yoga based movement, breathing, meditation, guided relaxation, sound bath, with a break for lunch. Bring light vegetarian food to share!

Doors open at 9:45am to give you time to set up your space for practice etc. for a 10am start, finishing the day at 4pm.

We do have some mats available, however you might prefer to bring your own. Wear warm, comfortable clothing that allows for maximum movement. You may want to bring your own blanket and thick socks (for extra cosiness). There is also a suggestion to have a light breakfast on the morning of the day retreat.

Please email Kshantika on the email below, letting her know of any injuries, restrictions of movement, or health issues you’d like us to be aware of before attending the day so we can accommodate you more fully.

Booking (ONLY 15 SPACES AVAILABLE):

We run everything at the Nottingham Buddhist Centre on a donation basis - we want our events to be available to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. We ask for a donation at the time of booking if possible, as we’re completely reliant on your generous donations to keep our doors open to all.

We’d suggest a donation of £58/£48/£38 - or whatever amount you can and would enjoy giving.

If you are unable to give even a very small amount, you are still very welcome. Please email info@nottinghambuddhistcentre.org and we'll book you on.

(Please note: any donation made is a donation to the centre and not payment for an event. If for some reason you can’t make the event, you’re warmly welcome to join any other suitable event)
