Little Bridge of a Virus

Now look at us bonding through fear

spraying bannisters

and talking to neighbours

touching the raw and common ground

of this body, its suffering

the whims of life coursing through it

the turns of fate.

Look at us reverting to

huddled survival

against the dead of night

and the roaming of beasts

just as before

before we became

darkness and beasts to one another.

Little bridge of a virus

remind us how much we share

who has lungs

what they are for

help us sustain precious love

while there is time.
